Casa Loco Grande-big house

This is the house that Randy and Dagmar recommended for my retirement party. It has 3 bedrooms and 3 baths. Plenty of room for as many people as want to come to Sicily. These are winter photos. There are some flowers in bloom-geraniums and roses even now. We look forward to more greenery and color when spring arrives.

  1. Do all the windows there have wooden shutters? Quite interesting--are they for security, privacy, or to keep the sun out on a hot day--or all three?

    1. Windows have wooden shutters and within the window a part opens so you can have daylight. The whole window (inner and outer part) also opens with a screen on the outside when it is hot. Some of the doors also have exterior shutters that close over the door.

Seems like security to me, so that you can have windows open in the warm weather and still have ventilation. Also, seems like weather protection. It is an island and the storms are like you read about in Shakespeare and books about the gods. The windows rattle with the thunder and lightening flashes through the house.

The wind is impressive. I had to ask Steffen for a tutorial on hanging laundry in the breeze. I kept getting caught up in the sheets. By the time I had them hung up, they were nearly dry.
